Nausea

Postby Sarah » 29 Mar 2010, 12:25

Hi
Has anyone else suffered from persisitent nausea after going through a premature menopause? My periods stopped completely in Sept 2008 . I managed without HRT for 9 months , but gave in( because of joint pain and hot flushes) and went on Elleste Duet Conti. For 5 months I felt alot better, but for the last 4 months, since Dec 2009 I have been suffering from nausea virtually every day. I have not been sick and often when I start to feel queasy, if I eat something it eases. ( I feeel like I did when I was expecting my children )My GP and gynaecologist do not think it is the HRT. Ive had lots of tests , but they have not been able to find out why I am having nausea. Has anyone else suffered from persistent nausea?

Hi Sarah,

I took Elleste Duet for 2 years and suffered a lot of headaches and occasional nausea. However, it's very difficult to tell whether its your body adjusting or whether the medication just doesn't suit you. The only way I ruled symptoms out was by cutting out certain foods or changing the type of HRT. If you can identify when you get nausea and know that it's not linked to food etc you could perhaps try a different HRT?

Hope this helps.

Hi Penny
Thank you for your reply. I've tried identifying a pattern and avoiding certain foods, but the nausea happens at different times every day. I am waiting on an endoscopy. Ive been taking omeprazole for 3 months ( in case its a stomach ulcer) but it should have worked by now. Ever since I was diagnosed with having a premature menopause, Ive had one health problem after the next. I'm feeling rather fed up and exhausted at the moment
Thanks again for your support
