HRT Testosterone

Postby WezBoo » 12 Apr 2010, 17:04

Hello can anyone help? I have had POF since age 32 (twin genetic) and am now 43. After many years trying to get treatment sorted I finally had a testosterone implant for 6 months on top of sandrena gel and angeliq progesterone 12 days pm. I felt much better and it was such a relief :D . I recently went back to the hospital for a check up in Leicester and they have stopped prescribing testoserone stating that it is in their opinion unsafe/too risky  . This sounds a bit dismissive to me. As far as I am aware testoserone is still an acceptable form of HRT treatment. Does anyone know if this treatment has been withdrawn in other areas? any know if there are other options? I seem to have gone back to the drawing board and now getting hot flashes again  . Many thanks in advance and good luck with the new forum. Wez x

Hello Wez,

The following is a link to a NHS website I came across, which discusses treatment, advice etc for menopause, it talks about testosterone treatment,

http://www.cks.nhs.uk/menopause/managem ... er#-294996

I would suggest browsing this website further and discussing with your GP.

Hope this is helpful,

Sammy
