If egg donation is unsuccessful

Postby penny » 29 Mar 2010, 22:11

I am going to give it a shot but haven't ruled out adoption. Originally when diagnosed at 25 I was told that my best chances would be to have this treatment at 31 or 32 but I have since learnt that this is not the case since joining Daisy which has given me a lot of hope. I am 35 now and whilst being positive and about to embark on this journey, I want to look into all of my options and wondered if anyone could share any adoption experiences?

Hi Pen,

I was diagnosed in my late 20s and had 4 attempts at egg donation before being successful in 2003. I haven't had any experience of adoption myself, but a close friend of mine is adopting at the moment and I am one of her referees. She has gone with a private adoption agency in Nottingham and has been waiting for around a year for the process to start. She has just been assigned a social worker who has told her she should be going to panel in the autumn and probably matched with a child by Christmas.

Best of luck with your jouney, it is so very hard at times,
